Jim Ellis is a highly respected leader in the field of pupil transportation, combining extensive professional experience with a strong academic background. Holding a Master of Arts in Management & Leadership from Liberty University and a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Jim has developed a comprehensive skill set that includes strategic planning, operational efficiency, and effective communication. His dedication to the field is highlighted by his certification as a Director of Pupil Transportation by NAPT in 2008 and his impactful leadership roles, including serving as the President of the North Carolina Pupil Transportation Association (NCPTA) in 2013 and as a Transportation Representative on the Board of Directors for the North Carolina Association of School Administrators (NCASA) from 2010 to 2014.
As the Director of Pupil Transportation for Henrico County Public Schools since 2020, Jim has implemented numerous improvements and innovations, ensuring that transportation services meet and exceed key performance indicators while complying with all regulatory standards. His previous roles in Loudoun County and Chapel Hill/Carrboro City Schools have further solidified his reputation for enhancing safety protocols and operational standards. Jim's achievements have been recognized with the prestigious Mary Scroggs Award for Excellence in Providing Support Services in 2010. His leadership extends beyond his administrative roles, contributing significantly to professional bodies and sharing his expertise through presentations at major conferences. Jim's career, marked by dedication to enhancing safety, promoting efficiency, and striving for excellence in pupil transportation, establishes him as an esteemed speaker and a visionary leader in the realm of educational transportation.
