Dr. Pritchard has been a central player in the energy revolution over the past 27 years since his graduation from North Carolina State University in 1997. His vision for developing electric drive vehicles began in high school where he chose to pursue a degree in Mechanical Engineering from NC State University.
Since then he has since taken on numerous roles within the energy industry while completing his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from NC State in 2011. His career has taken him from a process heating and industrial energy efficiency auditor to leading renewable energy development and the NC GreenPower resource manager to creating the electric vehicle program at Advanced Energy Corporation and creating the Advanced Transportation Energy Center at NC State University. A key development of his career being the creation of the the first commercially available plug-in hybrid vehicle in the world with the commercialization of the International Truck and Engine plug-in hybrid school bus in 2006.
His role as Associate Director of the Future Renewable Electric Energy allowed him to work closely with electric vehicle providers, renewable energy technology companies, battery researchers, and power electronics leaders and develop a deep understanding of the role of power electronics in the fast changing world of power electronics, culminating in the creation of the $146M federally funded Power America institute focused on commercialization of US manufactured wide bandgap power semiconductors.
Dr. Pritchard now serves as a Chief Subject Matter Expert at Energetics CLEAResult Consulting on Electric Transportation with a focus on electric school buses and the infrastructure that support them. He leads a number of major initiatives to evaluate electric vehicles and their performance nationwide.
Dr. Pritchard is available on a contract basis for hourly consulting, invited talks and seminars, and also to lead large initiatives based on availability through Energetics.
