Charlie Vits, now retired, was the Market Development Manager and Regulatory Affairs Manager for SafeGuard/IMMI. Charlie began his career developing occupant protection systems for Ford over 50 years ago, then advanced to other positions in the automotive industry. While at IMMI for 22 years, he led development and market application of the lap-shoulder belt school bus seat and other child passenger safety products. He served on the National Child Passenger Safety Board and also the Transportation Research Board Occupant Protection and the Truck and Bus Safety committees. Charlie instructs school bus CPS courses and with his expertise is a national resource on this subject. He remains active in issues impacting present and future pre-k and student transportation.
